“Just one?!” was Geok Leng’s initial reaction when faced with this seemingly daunting task of picking only one watch from our close to 20 brands of watches.

“In many ways, when it comes to gifting – be it for your loved ones or yourself – you can’t really go wrong with SEVENFRIDAY. The design, quality, price, brand philosophy and the fact that it’s a gift that can be shared between a couple all stand it in good stead.

That said, if I really have to pick just one, I’d go with the LACO Mission Manx Limited Edition. LACO is well known as a flieger watch producer but they also put out other well-crafted pieces such as this chronograph. I love the story behind this collectible watch as well as the vintage vibes it channels. The piece essentially pays tribute to Georg “Cast Iron” Meier’s feat in 1939. Meier on his 500cc BMW Kompressor finally wrenched the highly coveted and competitive Senior TT class victory from British racers who had won the challenging Isle of Man Tourist Trophy for three decades!

There are only 49 pieces available worldwide to commemorate Meier’s race number. Details such as the cream/black colour of the dial which pays homage to BMW’s speedometer; the quality Shell Cordovan strap; and the German-made, buffalo leather roll designed to be used as a biker’s toolbag that the watch comes in all further enhance the covetable status of this watch. Wear a piece of history on your wrist with the Mission Manx…”
