RAW x GORILLA Fastback Celebratory Edition

THE Fastback Celebratory Edition results from the collaboration between RAW and Swiss-based Gorilla Watches.

A relative newcomer in the watch industry, Gorilla Watches is the brainchild of Octavio Garcia and Lukas Gopp, respectively the former design chief and senior designer of Audemars Piguet. Gorilla Watches is inspired by the technical and artistic exuberance of custom car culture and is built around three key pillars: power, referring to the unleashing of creative juices in horologic design to push the fine line between far enough and too far; performance, with radical material combinations that are engineered to be worn and seen; rarity, where production cycles are kept small.

Gorilla Watches was first introduced in Singapore when RAW opened its sister retail concept, Watch Wonderland, at the end of 2017. Its debut Fastback collection was well-received by both seasoned collectors and those new to watch collecting – similar to the brand’s reception in other parts of the world. The brand quickly went on to launch the Fastback Drift, which shares a similar case design as its predecessors but boasts a Vaucher-manufactured movement with a wandering hours complication and an affordable price tag.

“Despite being one of the youngest in our stable of brands, it took Gorilla merely a day to say yes to collaborating with us to produce this Celebratory Edition. This progressive and can-do spirit is something that we have in common with Octavio and his team,” says Sugiharto Kusumadi, founder of RAW.

“The Fastback Galaxy Blue is in a shade similar to the blue-green corporate colour of RAW and provides a perfect canvas for us to develop a collectible that is truly RAW with a few tweaks,” continues Kusumadi.

The RAW x Gorilla Fastback Celebratory Edition presents 140g of unmistakeable presence and pure, engaging analog performance in galaxy blue. Its layered case construction comprises of a polished black ceramic bezel seated on top of an anodised aluminium “pinstripe” and a bead-blasted titanium case. The multi-layered dial of the original Fastback remains in the Celebratory Edition with the exception of the number “15” being applied in a 4N tinted metal with satin brush finishing in one of RAW’s new corporate colour.

Another feature that sets the Celebratory Edition apart from its regular brethren is that it comes with a closed titanium caseback that is engraved with RAW’s revamped logo.

The RAW x Gorilla Fastback Celebratory Edition is a limited edition of 15 pieces and is available exclusively at RAW ION Orchard (#B3-03), RAW Millenia Walk (#01-78) and Watch Wonderland at Suntec City (#01-470/472).
