NWA: RAW x Alexander Shorokhoff Jubilee Celebratory Edition

German watchmaker, Alexander Shorokhoff, came up with a specially designed limited edition timepiece for Red Army Watches' 15th anniversary. Find out more about Mr Shorokhov's "57,000 hours way to a masterpiece for RAW".
GERMAN watch manufactory, Alexander Shorokhoff, is known for founder Alexander Shorokhov’s ‘Art on the Wrist’ creations with hand decorations and engravings. As part of RAW’s 15th anniversary, we collaborate with Alexander Shorokhoff to launch a special Celebratory Edition watch.
Forward-looking Approach
“The Alexander Shorokhoff brand marries Russian heritage with German precision resulting in uniquely designed, quality watches. This forward-looking approach whilst keeping in mind one’s roots is one that resonates with RAW,” shares founder, Sugiharto Kusumadi.
“RAW was established in 2004 with the intention of offering a unique retail environment which is informative yet fun and welcoming for both new and seasoned watch lovers,” Kusumadi further elaborates. “We have – and will continue to evolve, while keeping this in mind.”
It’s All in the Details
In coming up with the design for the Celebratory Edition, Shorokhov drew inspiration from the colour of the waters that surround the citystate of Singapore – which coincidentally was similar to one of RAW’s new corporate colours. This sea-inspired hue thus became the colour of the watch dial, serving as a backdrop for other details to fall in place.
The signature big 60 and spade hands, characteristic of the AvantGarde collection, are features in the Celebratory Edition that make the watch instantly recognisable as an Alexander Shorokhoff creation. However, to make the creation distinctly RAW, the Celebratory Edition sees the inclusion of a chapter ring, which pulls the trademark 60 inwards away from the case, giving the watch a new aesthetic.
Shorokhov’s love for combining silver with rose gold colours further completed the palette for the Celebratory Edition. RAW’s new logomark is incorporated on the dial in silver, encircled within a rose gold ring at the 3 o’clock position. This is balanced up with the seconds subdial in a rose gold ring at 9 o’clock. Other rose gold details include the hands and appliqués.
Beating inside the 43.5mm stainless steel case of the RAW x Alexander Shorokhoff Celebratory Edition is a reliable and solid Russian movement: the AS.3105 handcrafted, handwinding calibre. A buttery soft calfskin leather strap in caramel provides the finishing touch to the watch.

“This is my 57,000 hours way to a masterpiece for RAW,” shares Shorokhov. “Why 57,000 hours? That is exactly the number of hours that is present in 15 years – the anniversary that RAW is celebrating this year.”
The RAW x Alexander Shorokhoff Celebratory Edition is summed up as such: 15 years of RAW’s history captured in a single handmade masterpiece by Alexander Shorokhoff.
