Celebrating tradition in colour and light — the MIDO Commander Gradient Catrines Special Edition pays tribute to Mexico’s Día de Muertos with artistry and Swiss precision.
Inspiration and Design
The Commander Gradient Catrines continues MIDO’s homage to Mexican cultural identity, dedicated to the Day of the Dead. The dial features the iconic skull of El Catrín, surrounded by flowers and hand-applied in vivid lacquers. By day, the watch radiates with joyful colour; by night, its Super-LumiNova® transforms the skull and floral motifs into a glowing spectacle of blue and green light.
Dial and Case Details
The distinctive acrylic dial reveals a gradient effect — transparent at the centre and deepening to black at the edges — offering a glimpse of the mechanical heart within. Diamond-cut hands, faceted indexes with coloured grooves, and a date window at 3 o’clock complete the composition under a domed, faceted sapphire crystal.
Its satin-finished stainless steel case (40 mm) is topped with a polished bezel and complemented by three easily interchangeable straps:
Stainless steel bracelet with folding clasp
Black leather strap with blue stitching
Orange textured rubber strap, honouring the cempasúchil flower of Día de Muertos
Water resistance is rated at 5ATM (50 m).
Movement and Mechanics
At the heart of the Catrines beats the MIDO Caliber 80 automatic movement, offering an impressive 80-hour power reserve. Equipped with a Nivachron™ balance spring, it ensures high resistance to magnetic fields and shocks. The oscillating weight, decorated with Côtes de Genève and engraved with the MIDO logo, can be admired through the transparent caseback.
A Collector’s Tribute
Limited in availability beyond Mexico, the Commander Gradient Catrines Special Edition is more than a watch — it’s a living canvas, celebrating life, heritage, and the art of Swiss watchmaking. Delivered in a special presentation box, it’s a rare opportunity for collectors worldwide.

The Seiko Presage combines a Japanese aesthetic sense with traditional craftsmanship and Seiko’s watchmaking skills in an original collection that offers Japanese beauty, quality and long-lasting performance.
The Seiko Presage Sharp Edged Series is a design series that revealed a fresh and powerful expression of Japanese artistry. This series captures the simplicity and refinement of traditional Japanese aesthetics in its delicately textured dial and gives it a modern edge with its sharp and angular case construction.
The Seiko Presage Sharp Edged Series case and bracelet incorporate many flat surfaces that have a modern sharpness that allows the watch to shine and sparkle from every angle. The precisely engineered and polished surfaces and the crisp edges of its silhouette contrast with the subtle hairline finish to create a pleasingly multi-dimensional effect.
The dial incorporates a Japanese Asanoha or hemp leaf pattern, familiar in Japanese culture for its use in design since the Heian period over a thousand years ago. The fibres that make up the plant's stem were traditionally used to make fabrics and the leaf pattern holds a special importance in Japanese culture as it symbolises rapid, strong growth and was thought to bring good health, especially to the young. The rich texture and intricacy of the dial's sharply edged geometric pattern create a subtle colour gradation as they play with the light at different angles.
The Seiko Presage SPB227J1 features a ruby red dial - the colour of crimson glory vines known as Ebi-iro.

The Nivada Grenchen Autochron MecaQuartz Yellow is a modern expression of a classic chronograph concept - combining vintage-inspired design with a hybrid movement that delivers precision and mechanical feel in everyday use. With its distinctive yellow accents and Art Deco detailing, it offers character without excess and performance without complication.
This is a chronograph designed to be worn often, used intuitively, and appreciated for its balance of form and function.
Inspiration & Design
The Autochron draws from Nivada Grenchen’s historic ties to motorsport and aviation, where timing precision and legibility were essential. This MecaQuartz edition retains the spirit of the original Autochron while adapting it for modern lifestyles - lighter, slimmer, and more approachable than a traditional mechanical chronograph.
The yellow colourway adds a contemporary edge to the design. Rather than overwhelming the dial, the colour is applied with restraint, offering warmth, contrast, and visual energy while preserving the watch’s vintage character.
Dial & Case Details
The matte black textured dial provides a deep, tactile backdrop for the chronograph layout. Art Deco–inspired sub-dials in sand tones add warmth and dimensional contrast, creating a subtle 3D effect that shifts with light and movement.
At 38mm, the stainless-steel case is classically proportioned and highly wearable. A bidirectional rotating fluted aluminum bezel frames the dial, featuring a tachymeter scale for measuring speed over a known distance. A bold yellow dot at 12 o’clock adds a functional visual reference while reinforcing the colour theme.
The double-domed sapphire crystal enhances depth and clarity, while the screw-down caseback contributes to the watch’s robust 200m (20ATM) water resistance.
Movement & Mechanics
Powering the Autochron is the VK67 MecaQuartz movement, a hybrid calibre that combines quartz accuracy with a mechanical chronograph module.
The quartz component ensures precise timekeeping and long-term reliability
The mechanical module drives the chronograph, allowing the Autochron hand to sweep smoothly - mimicking the motion of a traditional mechanical chronograph
With an approximate three-year battery life, the movement delivers convenience without sacrificing tactile satisfaction. This hybrid architecture is why MecaQuartz movements are often described as offering mechanical feel with quartz practicality.
Bracelet & Wearability
This yellow Autochron is fitted to a stainless-steel bracelet, reinforcing its sporty yet refined character. Balanced proportions, moderate thickness, and secure construction make it comfortable for extended daily wear.
Whether worn casually or as a functional timing tool, it remains stable, legible, and easy to live with.
Final Impression
The Nivada Grenchen Autochron MecaQuartz Yellow is a chronograph that understands restraint. It delivers visual character, hybrid innovation, and everyday usability without the weight or maintenance demands of a full mechanical chronograph.
A thoughtful choice for collectors who value design, precision, and practicality in equal measure.

The Horizon Watches Nemolithic collection marks the next chapter of the brand’s most recognisable design language. Building on the foundations of the original Nemo, Nemolithic introduces five mesmerising natural stone dials, each defined by its own texture, colour, and character.
Despite the visual weight and presence of solid stone, Nemolithic retains a refined, wearable profile at just 10mm thick (excluding crystal). Each watch is paired with an improved stainless-steel bracelet featuring enhanced articulation and Horizon’s MicroSlider clasp, allowing seamless, on-the-fly micro adjustment.
Limited to just 23 pieces per dial, Nemolithic is a study in contrast: rarity balanced with everyday wearability, and natural material framed by precise industrial design.
Why We Curated This Watch
A rare stone-dial evolution of Horizon’s most iconic collection
Slim, wearable proportions despite the use of solid stone
Thoughtfully engineered bracelet with MicroSlider adjustment
Extremely limited production - 23 pieces per dial
From Nemo to Nemolithic
Nemolithic builds upon the proportions and architectural philosophy of the original Nemo, itself the refined successor to Horizon Watches’ debut -N- collection. Where Nemo focused on balance, thinness, and multi-plane construction, Nemolithic pushes the design language further through material exploration.
By removing the date display entirely, Nemolithic achieves a cleaner, more sculptural dial - allowing the natural stone surface and applied markers to take centre stage. The result is a purer expression of the Nemo form, elevated through rarity and restraint.
Dial & Design Language
Each Nemolithic dial is crafted from natural stone, resulting in subtle variations that ensure no two watches are ever identical. The organic textures of stone contrast beautifully with the Nemo case architecture, creating a dialogue between nature and precision engineering.
With no date complication, the dial remains intentionally uncluttered. The applied hour markers - standing tall at 0.6mm - dominate the visual landscape, reinforcing the Nemo’s signature multi-plane design and enhancing legibility. Their sculptural height and Nautilus-inspired form add depth without distraction.
Case, Bezel & Construction
Nemolithic retains the Nemo’s rare two-module case construction, allowing for exceptional finishing even in the most intricate recesses. This architecture creates layered surfaces, stepped lugs, and varied slopes that reward close inspection from every angle.
The watch is equipped with a coin-edged unidirectional external rotating bezel, now fitted with a sapphire insert - an upgrade that enhances both durability and visual depth. With 120 firm clicks, the bezel offers precise, tactile operation for elapsed time measurement.
Bracelet & Wearability
Each Nemolithic is fitted with a stainless-steel bracelet redesigned for improved mobility and articulation, ensuring comfort throughout the day. The bracelet is finished with Horizon Watches’ MicroSlider clasp, enabling quick micro-adjustments without tools - ideal for changes in wrist size or temperature.
Despite its robust construction and stone dial, Nemolithic wears comfortably and securely, balancing presence with practicality.
Rarity & Collectability
Every Nemolithic variant is limited to 23 pieces only, making each watch as rare as the stone it carries. The natural variation in the dials further enhances individuality, ensuring that each piece feels personal and truly unique.
This is not just a material upgrade - it is a collector-focused evolution of an already respected design.
