First produced in Moscow in 1949, Sturmanskie watches were originally created for Soviet military pilots and navigators. Built for precision and reliability, they were issued under special order and were not initially available to the general public.

Sturmanskie entered watchmaking history on 12 April 1961, when Yuri Gagarin wore one during the first human flight into space - making it the first watch worn in space. Today, the brand continues to draw on its aviation and space heritage across mechanical collections inspired by Gagarin, exploration and Soviet-era instrument watches.
