The Oris x Bracenet Aquis is a special edition collaboration between independent Swiss watchmaker, Oris, and social enterprise, Bracenet, which makes accessories from upcycled "ghost" fishing nets. Oris has always been a strong champion for thinking, behaving and acting sustainably. Over the years, Oris has significantly reduced the environmental impact of its factory in Hölstein; it has expanded its portfolio of sustainable suppliers; and Oris has partnerd with a wide body of pioneering charities, social enterprises, non-profits and businesses with a sustainability profile that matches the brand's. Change for the Better remains a key, ongoing goal for Oris. The Oris x Bracenet watches is one result of this goal. Ghost fishing nets - nets which have been discarded or lost - are estimated to make up almost 50% of the Great Pacific Garbage Patch (GPGP). These ghost fishing nets continue to catch and kill marine life as they remain in the oceans. Bracenet was founded to tackle this issue by transforming this life-threatening waste product into beautiful products and accessories that also make a statement: change must come. The Oris x Bracenet watches come with a spectacular dial made of recycled ghost and end-of-life nets. Making these kaleidoscopic dials involves taking small green, blue and white offcuts and gently warming them until they melt into the raw material. As they cool, they harden into a thin sheet of material. This is then cut to size, planed and sanded down until it's just 0.3mm thick. The material contains no additives, fillers or glues. No two dials are the same. When you wear the Oris x Bracenet watch, know that you're bearing a symbol of change. Available in two sizes: 36.5mm or 43.5mm. The Orodeus OD2 collection continues the sci-fi theme of the brand. This time, Orodeus invites you to go several leagues under the sea, inspired by Captain Nemo’s adventure. The original inspiration of the case design cines from a rare 1970s vintage watch with a jumping hour feature that Orodeus reimagined to be a submersible in its underwater adventure.  The case front profile is asymmetrical, making it unique from many other dive watches, with a strong presence of the screw-down crown at 4 c’clock. Viewing the side profile of the case will reveal a sliding contour that hugs the wrist comfortably. The lack of lugs at the 12 o’clock position also makes the watch very wearable even for small wrists. The finishing of the case is intertwined between the brushed and polished method, giving it a sporty yet refined feel overall. A 3mm-thick domed sapphire crystal with anti-reflective coating makes the watch stand out better in terms of wrist presence and it brings out more of the dial detailings which include SuperLuminova-filled dot markers and textured fumee dial. Zoom closely on the dial will show caviar-look alike texture that a nickname is given to each colourway. For comfort and that consistent 1970s vibes, custom-designed rubber straps are paired with this collection. The sci-fi theme also continues in the watch’s presentation box, which bears a striking illustration by our comic artist. The drawing showcases the artist’s alter ego, Captain OD and his crew as they embark on their underwater adventures.
