Description
The Angles Orbitron Ash Titanium rethinks the familiar act of reading time through a sculptural, constantly changing display. Instead of conventional hour and minute hands, rotating three-dimensional pyramids form the centrepiece of the dial, creating a watch that feels as much like a kinetic object as a timekeeper.
Rendered in Grade 5 titanium and limited to just 100 pieces, the Ash Titanium pairs the Orbitron's unconventional mechanics with a restrained, monochromatic finish.
Inspiration & Design
The Orbitron is built around movement - not simply the movement inside the watch, but the way its display physically transforms as time passes.
Angles replaces the conventional hour indication with its proprietary rotating pyramid system. The result is deliberately architectural: geometric forms rise above the dial and rotate as time progresses, giving the watch a sense of depth and motion that changes depending on the viewing angle.
The Ash Titanium edition takes a particularly technical approach to the design. Rather than relying on colour for impact, its character comes from material, texture and form - titanium, anodised aluminium and a patterned dial working together within a largely monochromatic palette.
Dial & Case
At the centre of the dial are Angles' rotating pyramids, made from anodised aluminium and paired with a Grade 5 titanium arm. Beneath them, a fish-scale pattern introduces another layer of texture, while Swiss Super-LumiNova on the numerals adds visibility after dark.
The case is crafted from Grade 5 titanium and measures 39mm across and 16mm high. While compact in diameter, its pronounced depth accommodates the three-dimensional display that gives the Orbitron much of its visual presence.
An anti-reflective sapphire crystal protects the dial, while a sapphire exhibition caseback reveals the mechanics from behind. Water resistance is rated to 30 metres.
Movement
Inside the Orbitron is the automatic Miyota 9039, paired with Angles' in-house rotating hour module.
The 24-jewel movement operates at 28,800 vibrations per hour and offers a stated accuracy of ±10 seconds per day, together with approximately 36 hours of power reserve.
The Miyota provides a proven automatic foundation, while the proprietary module above it is what gives the Orbitron its distinctive mechanical identity and unconventional presentation of time.
Bracelet / Strap
The Orbitron Ash Titanium is paired with a hand-sewn Italian leather strap, its substantial 28mm width at the case tapering to 20mm at the buckle. A solid Grade 5 titanium buckle continues the lightweight, technical character of the case.
Final Thoughts
The Orbitron Ash Titanium isn't unusual simply for the sake of looking different. Its appeal comes from how completely the alternative time display shapes the watch — from the architecture of the dial to the depth of the case and the way its appearance changes as the pyramids rotate.
The titanium construction keeps the execution technical and restrained, allowing the mechanism itself to provide the theatre. With production limited to just 100 pieces, the Ash Titanium makes a compelling proposition for collectors looking beyond the conventional hands-and-dial formula.
