Description
The Laco Stuttgart PRO 1208 takes the classic Type A Flieger design and scales it into a compact, highly wearable 37mm format. This Ready To Wear configuration pairs a rich green dial with a brushed stainless steel case and traditional riveted dark brown leather strap, giving the familiar pilot-watch formula a more distinctive character without losing its functional roots.

Inspiration & Design
Laco’s Stuttgart PRO builds on the functional design language of the historic German observation watch while allowing its proportions, finishing and specifications to suit contemporary wear.
The 1208 uses the classic Baumuster A/Type A dial, defined by its clear Arabic numerals, triangular orientation marker at 12 o’clock and highly legible minute track. Here, the traditional layout is given a noticeably different personality through a deep green dial, complemented by the warmth of a dark brown riveted leather strap.
At 37mm, it is also one of the more compact ways to experience Laco’s Flieger design - particularly appealing for smaller wrists or anyone who prefers a restrained pilot watch rather than historically oversized proportions.
Dial & Case
The green Type A dial carries the Laco logo and “Made in Germany” printing, with numerals, markers and hands treated with Super-LumiNova C3 for strong low-light visibility.
The 37mm stainless steel case has a brushed finish, maintaining the utilitarian character expected of a Flieger. This particular configuration is specified without the FL23883 engraving on the case side, resulting in a cleaner exterior.
A sapphire crystal with anti-reflective coating on the inside protects the dial, while the solid caseback and 20ATM/200m water resistance make the watch considerably more robust than its vintage inspiration might suggest.
Movement
Inside is a Swiss automatic movement in Elaboré grade, configured without a date display to preserve the symmetry and clarity of the Type A dial.
For this configuration, the movement’s bridges and wheels are left undecorated - an appropriate choice given the watch’s solid caseback and its emphasis on functional pilot-watch design rather than decorative movement finishing.
Bracelet / Strap
The Stuttgart PRO 1208 is fitted with a dark brown leather pilot strap with rivets, reinforcing the traditional Flieger character of the watch while complementing the deep green dial. Contrast stitching and the prominent metal rivets give it the purposeful look associated with classic aviation watches.
It is finished with a brushed stainless steel buckle, matching the understated brushed finish of the case and keeping the overall presentation cohesive.
Final Thoughts
The Stuttgart PRO 1208 is an interesting example of how much the character of a Flieger can change without fundamentally changing the design.
Its 37mm case makes it unusually approachable for a pilot watch, while the green dial and brown riveted leather introduce enough colour to distinguish it from the conventional black-dial formula. Add 200m water resistance, sapphire crystal and an Elaboré-grade Swiss automatic movement, and it becomes a genuinely versatile everyday mechanical watch rather than simply a historical design exercise.
