Description
The Lucky Harvey Tiger Automata turns the face of a tiger into the watch’s time display.
Instead of conventional hands, the tiger’s left eye indicates the hours while its right eye indicates the minutes. Both eyes shift as time passes, continuously changing the tiger’s expression.
The animation extends to the mouth. At each hour, the tiger’s mouth opens to reveal its teeth before gradually retracting as time progresses.
The Orange Tiger gives the concept its most immediately recognisable feline character, with vivid colouring reinforcing the three-dimensional forms and animated expression.
Inspiration & Design
The tiger is not simply illustrated on the dial; its facial features form part of the watch’s mechanical architecture.
Two rotating eye displays replace conventional hour and minute hands, while the articulated mouth introduces another layer of animation. As the eyes change position and the mouth moves through its cycle, the tiger’s expression evolves throughout the day.
The Orange Tiger brings a bolder treatment to the concept, using the animal’s familiar colouring to emphasise the sculptural construction of the dial.
Dial & Case
The Orange Tiger centres the dial around the sculptural tiger face, with separate rotating displays incorporated into the eyes for the hours and minutes.
The watch is housed in a 40mm case made from 316 stainless steel, giving the highly animated design relatively compact proportions.
A sapphire crystal protects the dial, while water resistance is rated to 50m/5ATM.
Movement
The Tiger is powered by an automatic mechanical movement incorporating its automata functions.
The movement drives both the animated eye-based time display and the tiger’s articulated mouth mechanism, with approximately 40 hours of power reserve.
Bracelet / Strap
The Orange Tiger is paired with an imported cowhide strap and pin buckle.
The strap is designed to fit wrists approximately 135–200mm in circumference.
Final Thoughts
The Tiger Automata is playful by design, but its character is built around a genuinely interesting mechanical concept.
By turning the tiger’s eyes into the actual hour and minute displays - and using its mouth to mark the passing hours - Lucky Harvey makes the automata fundamental to how the watch works.
The Orange Tiger is the more vivid expression of the concept, while the 40mm case keeps all that mechanical theatre within approachable dimensions.
