The Zelos Helica 39 ‘Kyanite’ brings a genuine natural mineral dial to the brand’s slim everyday sports-watch platform. Rather than relying on applied colour or a conventional surface finish, the dial draws its character from translucent kyanite and its naturally occurring striations, giving each piece subtle variation of its own.
Set within the compact 39mm Helica case, the mineral dial is balanced by faceted stainless-steel construction, a box-shaped sapphire crystal and a tapered multi-link bracelet. Inspiration & Design
The Helica is Zelos’s interpretation of the modern go-anywhere, do-anything (GADA) sports watch: slim, versatile and practical, but with considerably more visual character than a conventional everyday watch. Its faceted case and bracelet mix brushed and polished surfaces, creating changing reflections while maintaining a clean contemporary profile.
While CNC-guilloché dials form the core of the Helica collection, the Kyanite takes a different route. Zelos introduced natural stone alongside the latest generation of the collection, allowing the inherent texture and variation of the mineral itself to become the focal point.
Dial & Case Details
The defining feature is the kyanite dial, a translucent natural mineral characterised by subtle striations. Because it is a natural material, variations in colour, pattern and texture are inherent to the dial - giving individual watches their own character rather than a perfectly uniform appearance.
The dial is framed by the Helica’s cleaner hand and index design, introduced by Zelos to keep attention focused on the more intricate dial treatments. Super-LumiNova C3 and BGW9 X1 Grade provide low-light visibility.
The 316L stainless-steel case measures 39mm in diameter, 45.5mm lug-to-lug and 10.5mm thick without the crystal, increasing to 11.9mm with the box-shaped sapphire crystal. Brushed and polished surfaces accentuate its faceted construction, while 100m water resistance reinforces the Helica’s everyday versatility.
Movement & Mechanics
Inside is the Miyota 9015 automatic movement, a slim Japanese mechanical calibre well suited to the Helica’s relatively slender case.
A custom date wheel integrates the date complication into the design, while the movement provides a proven and practical foundation for a watch intended for regular wear.
Bracelet/Strap & Wearability
The Helica 39 Kyanite is fitted with a multi-link, faceted stainless-steel bracelet, continuing the combination of brushed and polished surfaces found on the case.
It tapers from 20mm at the lugs to 16mm at the clasp, helping the bracelet feel proportionate to the compact 39mm case. The latest Helica generation also introduces a butterfly clasp with quick adjustment, providing four adjustment positions across 10mm for easier fine-tuning on the wrist.
