THE WATCH ACADEMY

Learn | Build | Understand

At RAW, we believe that true appreciation for horology begins with hands-on experience. The Watch Academy brings watchmaking out of textbooks and onto your workbench, letting you discover what really goes on inside a timepiece.

WHY THE WATCH ACADEMY

Why Learn with Us The Watch Academy is designed for enthusiasts of all levels - from curious beginners to seasoned collectors. Under expert guidance, you will explore movement mechanics, try your hand at assembly and disassembly, and gain confidence in caring for your own watches.

This is watchmaking made accessible, enjoyable, and deeply rewarding.

WHAT YOU WILL LEARN

  • Reading a Timegrapher

Learn how to measure a watch’s performance using rate, amplitude, beat error, beats per hour, lift angle and more - the foundation of proper regulation.

  • Safe Handling and Demagnetising

Master essential safety steps - demagnetising your watch and tools, releasing mainspring tension, and preparing the movement for disassembly.

  • Movement Disassembly

Open a watch, remove the hands and dial, and progressively dismantle the movement while learning each part’s purpose and function.

  • Cleaning, Assembly & Regulation

Clean, peg, inspect and oil components before reassembly. Set the dial and hands, then regulate the movement using the timegrapher.

MEET YOUR INSTRUCTOR

Vincent Goh’s journey into watchmaking began with a childhood promise - after accidentally damaging his father’s watch, he became determined to one day learn how to repair it.

What started as curiosity soon became a lifelong craft. Through years of hands-on trial and error, Vincent began repairing watches for friends and relatives before eventually restoring over 500 vintage timepieces in the United States under the guidance of his first mentor.

Over the years, Vincent further honed his skills through formal watchmaking and technical training in China, Bangkok, and Switzerland, while also learning directly from experienced veteran watchmakers across the region. During his 11 years in China, he gained advanced restoration and servicing knowledge rarely found in books or formal education.

Today, Vincent is a senior watchmaker with more than a thousand restorations completed and over 500 students trained across the region. Since returning to Singapore in 2015, he has remained passionate about passing on his knowledge, craftsmanship, and appreciation for horology to the next generation.
