About the Workshop

The Watch Academy Level 1 is a hands-on introduction to mechanical watchmaking, designed for curious beginners and watch enthusiasts alike.
Guided by an experienced watchmaking instructor, participants will explore the inner workings of a mechanical timepiece, learning how its components interact before carefully dismantling and reassembling a watch themselves.
No prior watchmaking experience is required. At the end of the workshop, participants take home the mechanical watch they've worked on - along with a deeper appreciation of the craftsmanship behind it.
What You'll Learn
Get hands-on with the mechanics of a watch as you explore the components, tools and techniques involved in mechanical watchmaking.
Understanding the Movement
- Discover how a mechanical watch works and the function of its key components.
- Learn to use a timegrapher to assess watch performance, including beat rate, amplitude and beat error.
- Understand common mechanical watch issues and basic troubleshooting.
Disassembly & Reassembly
- Familiarise yourself with essential watchmaking tools.
- Learn how to open a watch and safely release the mainspring tension.
- Progressively dismantle the hands, dial and movement.
- Examine, clean and peg individual components before reassembly.
- Inspect and oil components during reassembly.
Finishing & Regulation
- Refit the dial and hands.
- Use a timegrapher to regulate the movement and assess its performance.
- Conclude with a Q&A session and workshop summary.

Instructor: Vincent Goh, Senior Watchmaking Instructor
Duration: 1 day, 10:00AM - 6:00PM (including a 1-hour lunch break)
Venue: Red Army Watches, Suntec City, #01-464, Singapore
Experience Level: Beginner -Bookin no prior watchmaking experience required

Booking Terms & Conditions
Eligibility & Participation
- No prior watchmaking experience is required to attend The Watch Academy.
- Due to the nature of the workshop and its learning objectives, participation is limited to individuals aged 18 to 65 years.
Course Fees & Payment
- The Watch Academy is not eligible for payment using SkillsFuture credits.
- The workshop is conducted in Singapore and is therefore not eligible for GST refunds under the Tourist Refund Scheme.
- Participants booking from outside Singapore or accessing our website via a VPN should contact us at info@redarmywatches.com before making a booking to ensure the correct course fee is charged.
- If a booking is made from outside Singapore or through a VPN without prior arrangement, any shortfall in the course fee must be paid before the booking can be confirmed.
Cancellations & Refunds
- All confirmed bookings are strictly non-refundable and cannot be cancelled.
