The CIGA Design Blue Planet Gilding represents an evolution of the brand's award-winning Blue Planet design. As a symbol of the enduring nature of eternity, gold has stood the test of time for millennia and must not be overlooked. From the ancient Greek myth of King Midas to the Silk Road trade that facilitated the exchange of gold and other precious commodities; the wealth of the Ghana Empire that was built on gold mining and trade, to the infamous California Gold Rush that drew prospectors from around the world in search of riches, gold is a symbol of wealth and power, beauty and elegance, and the enduring nature of eternity. The initial engraving of the dial's contours is performed using a CNC engraving machine with a 0.07mm cutting head at a high speed of 20,000RPM. This processtakes a total of 18 hours to complete. After the initial engraving is completed, the raw dial is coated with a corrosion-resistant black layer, a special kind of ink to stabilise the follow-up electroplating process and endure acid pickling. The intricate details on the dial are produced by a secondary CNC engraving with a more precise 0.05mm drillat a high speed of 20,000RPM. This process takes a total of 6 hours to complete. The layer of pure 24k gold on top is gilded upon after the raw dial undergoes multi-layer electrode ion plating (including zinc and nickel). The intricate dial details crisp oceans, sprawling mountains, and pristine land, actingas a constant reminder of what we all share and what we must preserve. The dial,crafted with micro-craving and multi-layer gilding, reproduces the Earth in the samecontinent-and-ocean ratio and depicts the real altitude of the terrain.
