Alexander Shorokhoff's Vintage line has been extended with the new edition of the Lucky 8. The new model is even more sophisticated with its filigree features and buoyant engravings. The cutout in the dial allows an inside view of the refined watch movement. Engravings can also be found at the date changing wheel. The three fixing screws are blued by hand in order to complete the appearance. A standout feature for the Lucky 8 is its date display. A special date disk in silver with yellow marks is fixed to the movement. The dial has 31 small windows so you can see the current date at the yellow mark appearing in one of the windows and read it on the outer scale. The stamped and silver plated date figures sparkle in renewed splendour. In order to reach a balance with the date indication, the hands have been coloured yellow. The hour and minute hands are kept in typical Alexander Shorokhoff design, with updated small black decor lines. For better legibility, the second hand has been made half in black and half in yellow colour. The yellow seam of the genuine ostrich leather strap perfectly completes this beautiful watch. Powering the Lucky 8 is the Poljot 2416 movement - a precise instrument which was used in the earlier rendition of Lucky 8. Sadly, the production of this movement was stopped about 20 years ago. Nowadays, it belongs to the Vintage rarities. At the Alexander Shorokhoff manufactory, the movement is completely re-worked, lubricated, hand engraved and adjusted. Its beauty can be admired through the sapphire glass back. Each version of the Lucky 8 is limited to only 50 pieces. This is the exact number of Vintage movements the manufactory could track down. With the Alexander Shorokhoff Revolution, Alexander Shorokhov wanted to realize his talent of engineer by showing more art and more “Avantgarde” in his design. At the same time, he was expressing his view to the future. The Revolution's big case of diameter 43.5mm not only gives Alexander Shorokhov space for the movement and the dial; but also makes room for his revolutionary imagination. Continuing his direction of avant-garde art, he completes the free space with geometrical elements such as a square, a pyramid and a sphere; as well as with small movement parts like springs and wheels. These parts are literally floating in free room within the case which is likely to be broken through by the metallic bars. A small bridge with enamel coating in the centre connects the watch with the surrounding space, which otherwise remains free and transparent. The inner rim of the case and the outer edge of the small dial are similar to technical wheels. The aim was to create a feeling for the industrialisation and the heavy change in the lives of the people. The big industry and fine mechanism of watches are connecting with each other perfectly. Both aspects are symbolic for the watches of the Avantgarde-collection by Alexander Shorokhoff – connecting the non-compatible. The inspiration of the Alexander Shorokhoff Babylonian II comes from the history of the biggest and most powerful city’s of ancient times, Babylon also known as Gate of Gods. The prosperity of the city in its heyday attracted astronomers, scientists, craftsmen and artists and turned it into a highly developed cultural center.
